Science - Politic - Culture- Creativity - Animism : A provocative and non-Eurocentric somatic approach to trauma, grief and nervous system
1-1 In Person & Virtual Sessions
Rhizome
Beneath the surface,
roots stretch not in a line
but in many directions—
a tangle of stories, unseen.
Grief pulls at trauma,
and trauma winds through rage,
while identity clings,
fragile, to the thread of dignity.
We try to separate them,
but they are one body,
growing, twisting,
alive beneath the skin.
A touch to one
awakens the others.
Here, there is no straight path,
no single thread to follow,
only the layers that fold over themselves,
echoes of what came before.
Like a rhizome, we unravel
not to find an end,
but to create space
for what’s been buried.
We are all of it—
the cracks, the roots,
the breaks, the shoots—
each connection alive,
each layer breathing,
waiting for its moment
to bloom.
HOW WE WORK
Each session is as unique as you, your grief, your story and your nervous system. I make use of my vast tools based on your needs on that day. When working with the body and nervous system, it’s best to plan for at least 4-5 sessions to begin with.
Where?
1-1 Work is offered in-person in Lisbon, Portugal or as virtual video sessions on Zoom. I facilitate virtual touch techniques as learned in the Tao of Trauma training.
A Note For First Time Visitors:
I hold the Indigenous belief that each person has a practitioner meant for them. If we have never worked together and you’re considering the idea of working with me, please send me a note first to check my availability and ensure we are a good fit.
Importance of Self-Practice
Somatic, breathwork and nervous system work is not magic, it’s an ACTIVE PROCESS, meaning I do my part by holding space and using my tools get to know your body and teaching you what you need. But to achieve consistent results, you’re also invited to do your part and commit to consistent practice outside of the sessions. Simple exercises or homework will be given to practice between sessions to support and build on the work we do together.

Accessibility & Inclusivity
Coming from a systemically marginalized group myself, I believe that healing should be accessible for everyone regardless of their gender, race, age and class. Also healing is not a solo journey - it’s deeper and more meaningful when shared as a community. I practice community support by offering sliding scale payment for Global South Bodies and Bodies of culture who are students or currently experiencing financial hardship and want to work with me. One of the definition of trauma is: Too much , too fast without adequate care. And the place where this too much, too fast is happening is in our body, our nervous system.
Grieving is a natural gift of human nature when we have reached adulthood most of us have had great cause to grieve for lost loved ones, broken dreams, ended careers, relationships, parents we dreamed to have, a body size….
Restoring the balance in our nervous systems
VIRTUAL (Zoom) or IN-PERSON (Lisbon)
1:30 Hrs | €150 (23% Portuguese VAT included)
There is an “S” to nervous system, which means for me that we might have one biological nervous system but we live in many more nervous systems. These sessions bring clarity on not only our biological nervous system but also on others nervous systems that influence our biological nervous system. Restoration of balance can never happen if we are not aware of where all our triggers might be coming from. We will develop various tools that are specifically adapted to you, your story and your culture for you to be able to befriend and widen your capacity and bring back harmony when disharmony appears.

About Tobi
Tobi is a dyer, mender and weaver of stories, born and raised in Benin. Movement and displacement have been integral to her life, shaping her identity. Growing up across the West African sub-region and living in North Africa, notably Tunisia, she has personally experienced the ethnic, inter-religious, and social divisions rooted in the continent's colonial trauma.
Now based in Portugal after years in Germany, she is a cultural somatic practitioner, grief worker, and educator. Her work focuses on helping individuals and communities repair fractured connections and integrate collective, intergenerational, individual, and systemic trauma and grief.
With a commitment to bridging Indigenous perspectives and modern neurobiology, Tobi created Collective Resonance™, a grief program that trains facilitators to hold space for collective grief processes and acknowledge systemic grief. This program fosters deeper community connections by addressing grief somatically, helping people integrate their losses while nurturing resilience and collective transformation.
